It is an incredible long distance love story about our Mother, Nancy Jane Hare (aka Janie), living in Iowa, dating John Harlan Berhow (aka Harlan and then Johnny), who had moved to California July 1942. These World War II, love letters date from 1942 into 1944. We have gone through literally hundreds of letters between our parents that they kept for almost 80 years.

If you want to see what their life was like in the early 1940s during World War II check out our blog containing some of the most amazing stories about life, love and the challenges of a long distance relationship as well as historical events they witnessed.
